Butler has definitely overachieved, especially earlier in the season. Their roster coming into the year seemed like NIT was the ceiling so credit Jordan for getting the most out of his guys.
Two of former JC's players at Mount St. Mary's are now at UNLV, who knocked off the last undefeated team in college basketball, San Diego State, this past weekend. Elijah Long in particular made four straight FTs down the stretch to ice the game. It will be interesting to see how Otzelberger does in Sin City. He definitely had some good years at South Dakota State with Daum, I know most of their fanbase wanted Pitino when Menzies was let go at the end of last season.

#4 Dayton at George Mason 7 MASN
La Salle at Davidson 7 ESPN+
Offline
Mason tied with Dayton, under 12 left in game.
Offline
Mason with absolutely zero chance at an NCAA bid, even with a Dayton win and a strong finish, it would be incumbent on Dayton to finish them off here! a #1 NCAA seed is on the line for the A10!
Offline
Dayton has opened up a 7 point lead and is likely going to pull away, but Mason playing really well contesting everything, good game tonight going on here

And Davidson beats LaSalle 74-49

Davidson has really great talent, and their 68 KenPom shows how much better they are than their record.
Darn shame because they really could have been an at large bid team. I'd watch our for THEM come A10 Tourney time could be a bid thief!!

I thought Dayton was going to blow out George Mason, I credit Mason for being competitive for the entire game. With about 30 seconds left, Mason had the ball and trailed by 4, but their player had a foot out of bounds when he caught the ball, a careless play like that usually happens with a bad/underdog team in those situations.
What does that Davidson-La Salle score say about GW?? LOL Davidson lost 2 key players early in the season, one guy left the team for personal reasons and the other guy was injured, but I still think they really underachieved this season. They should have been in contention for an NCAA tournament bid.

Thank you for finishing my thought, Thomas (about what does the Lasalle score say about GW). I would have posted that but I don’t want to be accused of being too negative.

Don't forget that we beat Davidson. My takeaway is just a giant, clueless shrug.

that was a really good win
Davidson and VCU have similar 60ish KenPoms

I will give us the benefit of the doubt and call Lasalle and Fordham growing pains. And American. And aMorgan State. And UMKCo

LSF, as someone would say, don't always assume the worst.
What's important is that JC will end up with more wins than last year, despite some of those wins coming from teams like Howard, etc.
This year is a freebie for JC. Let's hope he improves each year like previous coach's did (MJ, KH, ML).

Not an "other game" but it just was reported that Ed Croswell will transfer from La Salle. A big blow to the team and to the conference. Dude is a beast on the offensive glass.

Source: La Salle forward Ed Croswell will opt to transfer; averaging over 10 points and seven rebounds during his sophomore season

We can probably create a separate thread for transfers, but couldn't Croswell have decided to do that a week before instead?
