Opponent Summary: The Revolutionaries welcome the Towson University Tigers to the Smith Center on Sunday afternoon for an exhibition game. After finishing 6th last season in the CAA, the Tigers are projected for a 5th place finish in 2026-27. The Tigers’ best players are returning starters Zoli Khalil (9.4 ppg), Thalia Shepard (9.3 ppg), and graduate transfer Maysn Marchbanks (Samford). The trio leads an otherwise very young and inexperienced squad coming into the game.

About the Game: With the Revolutionaries’ top five players (Becker, Lewis, Reynolds, Sims, and Wilson) returning for the season, there is guarded optimism at Foggy Bottom for a good showing by GW WBB in the upcoming season. A lot will depend on the improvement of the returnees, as well as how well the incoming talent pans out. Cam Rust, N’na Konate, and Camryn Gunter will not face a tall Tigers front line, but the Tigers will test a GW front court that is learning to play with a guard rotation that includes Reynolds, Wilson, and other newcomers Anne Bair, Alicia Newell, Amor Harris, Ayla Habbal, and Bella Cucuta.

Although just an exhibition game, this contest should provide more insight into this season’s prospects than the season’s opener against DII opponent, the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), on November 2.

As it appears that this game will not have any video coverage, any impressions from those who are able to attend the game will be appreciated.

Re: GW versus Towson (Exhibition) Game

Final Result: GW hangs on in 4th quarter to take 72-69 win over Towson.

This was an exhibition game and both teams had an opportunity to look at most of their players. Anne Bair did not play in today’s contest for GW. Without video, it’s hard to assess the performance of individuals, but on paper, the contest seemed to be competitive. Both teams shot 40%+ from the field (as well as on 3-pointers), but GW was able to win, thanks to a 12-15 day at the free throw line. (Towson was 6-7). Potentially concerning for the Revs, was the Tigers’ 39-31 advantage on the boards overall, and 16-12 edge on the offensive glass. Newell (14 pts), Reynolds (13 pts), and Lewsi (13 pts) had double figures for GW and 11 of the 12 Revs who played today scored. The Tigers’ Ava Renninger (15 pts), led all scorers. One interesting scoreboard highlight was Lewis’ 7 3-point attempts, which led both teams, and may indicate a new weapon in her offensive arsenal for this year.

Next up for GW is the season opener against the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) on November 2. This will be an opportunity for the coaching staff and fans to get extended looks at the newer players.

Re: GW versus Towson (Exhibition) Game

I guess I was a little disappointed in the closeness of this game, although I have no idea if Towson is any good.  Let the women prove my disappointment is misplaced.  Was there no video for the exhibition game?
