Jeff Goodman is now reporting that Isaac White will graduate a year early and thus will be immediately eligible:
I thought White was a freshman. Clearly I was wrong. When I watched him a few times he seemed talented but raw (and a good shooter). He’s probably less attractive to a bcs as a one year rental, or would he have two years?

Just looking at part of Jeff Goodman's list, this name stood out. Adam Mitola and Patrick Steeves worked out quite well from the Ivy League. Didn't look up anything about him, but based on the numbers, though not tall, this could be a guy we could really use :
Mike Smith, 5-11, 180, G, Grad, Columbia (22.8 ppg, 4.5 apg, 4.1 rpg)

3/16 Updates
Cameron Parker (Sacred Heart) - interest from St. Bonaventure, Appalachian State, and Montana State.
Sam Sessoms (Binghamton) - interest from Old Dominion.
Matthew Moyer (Vanderbilt) - interest from Appalachian State and Hartford.
Tahj Eaddy (Santa Clara) - picked up offers from Georgia Tech, USC, Wichita State, and DePaul today. Now also receiving interest from UConn (his home state school), San Diego State, Kent State, St. John's, St. Bonaventure, Montana State, Northwestern, and Georgetown. I'm honestly not understanding why Eaddy is such a hot commodity on the transfer market currently but I'd say the odds we land him are very long at this point.
Brendan Barry (Dartmouth) - interest from Appalachian State.
Isaac White (Stanford) - interest from Eastern Michigan, UTEP, and Colorado State.
Ryan Murphy (Pittsburgh) - interest from Cincinnati, BYU, Utah State, Boise State, Minnesota, East Carolina, Southern Illinois, and South Carolina State.
A new name to the interest list:
Tomas Murphy (Northeastern) - Stats: 9.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.5 apg (played only 4 games due to ankle injury). Immediately Eligible.
Heard From: Albany, Toledo, Liberty, Lipscomb, UC Riverside, San Diego, Colorado State, Illinois State, Stony Brook
I'd say we are pursuing Moyer the hardest, followed by Ryan Murphy although the latter doesn't seem likely interested or likely to come here. White would have one year of eligibility as of now. I watched a number of Columbia games this season. The number of close games the Lions lost was amazing. It didn't help that they lost Adlesh (USC) and Tapé last offseason, but Mike Smith was practically a one-man wrecking crew. I would say his height probably means JC wouldn't consider him but could be wrong.

Another look at the mess of GW basketball under Lonergan, MoJo, Nero and Knapp.

I remember someone talking about Marfo and class not being a very good recruiting class.
Amazing what good coaching can do for development. It's a shame we wasted his time and now have to watch him play for a BCS team - I just hope it's not Maryland or Georgetown.

Actually if memory serves, we were the number #2 recruiting class in the A10 that year (behind only UMass). I think the board had concerns over Marfo because he was similarly ranked to Matt Cimino (who did not pan out), but otherwise it was a heralded class. Others deemed it similar in quality to Lonergan's first class of recruits which did pretty well for itself.
Also, that summer in Japan, Marfo started I believe all but one of the games under ML, with Smith getting the second most minutes at center/power forward behind a Marfo/Cavanagh starting tandem.

Thank you to Joel Joseph and B&BB. Exactly one of my points.

Massachusetts F C.J. Jackson (FR) is entering the transfer portal

C.J. Jackson could be the "player to be named later" in the trade for Trey Davis.
Do A10 intraconference transfers have to sit two years, or just one like any other transfer?

Vanderbilt grad transfer Matt Moyer tells me he's receiving interest from Oregon State, GW, Dayton, Kent State, Cal Poly, and Duquesne. Immediately eligible.

More on Moyer. Odd since he's a rebound-only guy with worse stats than AT
.Paul Biancardi@PaulBiancardi Vanderbilt grad transfer Matt Moyer tells Espn that he is looking at Oregon State, Dayton, George Washington, Kent State, Duquesne & Cal Poly. He is looking to take a few official visits when time is allowed. @matthewmoyer13

This whole discussion is odd. First of all, we have one spot as of today, Mezie got us to even and Toro gave us one spot. I suspect there will be between 1-3 more but that's anyone's guess.
Second, just because we kick the tires on someone does not mean they are the number one target..JC brings a lot of guys in who are never heard from again.
Third, given this era of no visits, we can't pull the trigger on anything really at this point unless someone wants to commit campus sight unseen. Doubt that happens unless this continues beyond May.
So really what we have here is a bunch of spit-balling of ideas going on. Nothing wrong with that to help pass the days but probably little connection to reality at this point.

Good get for Umass. I think he’s better than his stats (or potentially better, after not too much usage on a good team as a freshman).
Jordan Bruner from Yale entered the portal. I think immediately eligible. He’s an excellent de defensive rebounder/shot blocker who can really pass and has skill (hit 31 threes, though only at 31%, but also shot over 50% inside the arc)
He’ll probably go BCS, but I would take a one year Forward if his caliber in a heartbeat, even if our biggest need remains PG. And we’ve had good success before with Ivy League transfers who want a strong grad degree in a good basketball league

PG Alterique Gilbert leaving UConn. Would fit the bill, but I assume he wants to go somewhere to win immediately.
