An update on Yuta -- after an up and down tournament, Yuta had a breakout game against Montenegro today in the final classification round contest. Although Japan lost by 15, Yuta scored 34 pts, outscoring the rest of his team combined, and had 9 rebs in a game that was close most of the way. Then 34 pts tied for the highest in the World Cup so far this year. On the down side, Japan has a long way to go to really be competitive. It's obvious that they are physically disadvantaged. They were killed on the boards, could not finish many shots, and were basically just pushed around a lot. The good news is that they are an automatic qualifier for next year's Olympics, as the host country, so they have some time to try and fix some things.
Yuta highlights in record tying game.

Pato had 15 points including some key three pointers (3 for 5 from behind the arc) as Argentina held off Serbia 97-87 to advance to the semifinals. Argentina next play the winner of tomorrow´s USA-France game on Friday at (I think) 9am Eastern.

So the world´s worst wine producer (Argentina) will take on the world´s best wine producer (France) in Friday´s semifinal at 8am Eastern. A win, and Pato will play for the World Championship at 8am Eastern on Sunday.
