James played HS ball at MSJ (same as incoming freshman Tyler Brelsford) and AAU ball with Team Thrill (same as Chase Paar) so he will have some familiarity with other guys on the team. His nickname is "Church" and Bishop is a Lakers fan. Anyways, this will surely bolster our depth at point guard and Bishop can play the 2 as well which will help. Bishop getting immediate eligibility would be big for sure - the NCAA is currently debating whether to give one-time transfers immediate eligibility which would apply to Bishop. At the very least, he could possibly point to coming back closer to home in his decision to come to GW.
Welcome James! November can't come fast enough.

Jeff Goodman @GoodmanHoops4m James Bishop has received waiver to play this season, per George Washington coach Jamion Christian. Bishop transferred from LSU.

This is a huge one! The 1-2 punch of JNJ and JB is going to be scary, and I think Bishop really fits in well in the Mayhem system defensively. When he was at MSJ his ability to make clutch shots late in games, and really turn it up over the course of the game was special. James also gives us another pretty reliable three point shooter alongside the big 3 (Jamison, Sloan, Maceo) and any contributions from the freshmen. Floor spacing should be really good this coming year.
Rothstein's projected lineup of JNJ, James, Maceo, Jamison, and Matt Moyer doesn't strike me as what we will trot out come November, especially given comments from JC that Jamison is if anything going to be playing the 2 if not the 3 (definitely not up front). I guess part of this depends on when Hunter becomes eligible, which I am guessing is still midseason as of now.
The last transfer from LSU Regis Koundjia ended up being solid after two years in Baton Rouge. Of course, expectations for James are probably higher (given he was one of the best scorers in the region the past couple years) and he plays a different position but the excitement definitely remains the same!
