Nick Sherod tears his ACL and will miss 2020-21 season.

Huge might be understating things. First, what a disappointment for the young man. This will be his second missed season due to injury in the past three seasons
I have sung Nick's praises in the past. He may very well be the most underrated player in the conference, as Gilyard, Golden and Francis all receive more attention. Last season, three Spiders attempted over 150 shots from 3. Francis and Gilyard were each in the neighborhood of 36% while Sherod was a hair under 44%. Opposing defenses will likely be less focused on taking away Richmond's three point shooting than they would need to be with Nick playing. In addition to his great shooting touch, he averaged nearly 5.5 rebounds per game, had a nearly 2:1 assist to turnover ratio, and had nearly 1 steal per game. He's also a great man-to-man defender.
I'd say St. Louis becomes the favorite to win the conference (they had been neck and next with Richmond based on most forecasts), and perhaps Dayton slides ahead of Richmond based on this development.

Sad news all around. From what I've seen and heard, Sherod is a great guy both on and off the court. This is his second ACL tear in college, and he announced that he will not be seeking an additional year of eligibility. Just utterly bad luck - he first tore the ACL in his left knee, now it's the right. Wish him the best and he definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
Dayton also lost Cohill for the season a week ago. He was one of their better defenders and a key guy off the pine. Overall, not the best start with injuries for the league.

I feel this news is very sad as Nick Sherod was one of the most-skilled and well rounded players in the A10, probably in the top five. I think Nick could be easily be a very good professional, and maybe even get a look in the NBA.
As you have said, this is Nick's second serious knee injury and I hope it doesn't reduce the interest professional teams have in him. I also feel badly for the Spiders for Nick is a homegrown talent.
I hope you will all join me in wishing Nick a speedy and complete recovery.
