Anybody have any insight on Lindo's waiver? Looking forward to seeing him play on Thursday but was wondering if that'll be the only time we see him play this season.

I don't think it was ever reported that Lindo filed a waiver?  Pretty sure it's always been the case he would sit out this year.

I wanted to bump this since the scrimmage will be held later today, the video says 4:30, maybe there was a time change.

Rosters:

Team Buff
Chase Paar
Lincoln Ball
Ricky Lindo Jr.
James Bishop
Tyler Brelsford
Matt Moyer
Sloan Seymour

Team Blue
Jameer Nelson Jr.
Jamison Battle
Maceo Jack
Hunter Dean
Noel Brown
Ace Stallings
Brandon Leftwich

I got Team Buff winning. I think they should have put Ace or Noel on the other team for Matt which might have been a bit more even since Team Blue has three bigs.

Anyone going to the Q&A session after?

Know we can take much from an intra squad scrimmage but the team looks a lot more athletic. It appears there will be a ton Of back cuts  since there will be ball pressure on all of the shooters

They played on the same AAU team.  I think that familiarity with Pick and Rolls is really going to pay off.

Re: Virtual Buff and Blue Scrimmage 11/12 @ 5:00 pm

Bishop looks incredibly athletic, but playing a bit out of control.
Parr looks outstanding.
The returnees as a whole look very good.
Most importantly, these guys look like they're having fun and they won't be intimidated by anybody.

Re: Virtual Buff and Blue Scrimmage 11/12 @ 5:00 pm

Battle hit 5 straight threes, which is good. I'll ignore the defense allowing him to get open 5 straight times.

JC said Battle is down 15 pounds, and he looks like it.

Just announced on the stream that NBC Sports Washington will air a "Coach's Show" with JC filmed at Tonic starting November 21st! Hope this increase in media exposure continues.  Always thought it was a shame how our radio presence disappeared after the NIT win.

Re: Virtual Buff and Blue Scrimmage 11/12 @ 5:00 pm

Given what I have seen, either depth perception at the Smith Center is funky with the grandstands folded away or those predicting this team to finish in the bottom half of the A10 have the team  highly over-rated.
I am fully aware that this is  about as good an indicator as a Kenner game, only with less defense, but my measured optimism has been transformed in to full-on skepticism after this.

Re: Virtual Buff and Blue Scrimmage 11/12 @ 5:00 pm

Well, I don’t share the skepticism of GWAA.  It’s an early scrimmage.

What I saw was Battle, Seymour, and Jack can shoot.  Bishop is the kind of athletic, aggressive guard we need at the point (like a bigger, better Armel Potter), though he has a lot of TOs today - but I’m sure that will correct.  Nelson looked stronger but didn’t see any shooting improvement yet.  With Bishop handling the ball, Nelson can become a defensive stopper and transition player. I saw Chase Paar look healthy and good. Hunter Dean also impressed me with a couple of dunks and a nice KevLar style pick and pop for three late in the first half.

Overall, I see a team with some a serviceable big man rotation, 3 quality deep shooters, and two fast, aggressive guards. To me, there’s improvement coming and it will get better as the season goes.

The downsides I saw were: Matthew Moyer still doesn’t look like an impact player (he’ll need to find his role to contribute as like an 8th man, JC said he’ll play as a 3), Ace Stallings got repeatedly abused on defense (that doesn’t matter though, once Dean is Eligible) and the freshmen are a work in progress.

For the freshmen: Ball had a couple of decent glue plays but didn’t stand out today, Brelsford had two nice transition finishes and had one really nice aggressive drive - he was more athletic than I expected (playing time may be tough for him behind Bishop and Meer, but I saw some potential there), and Noel Brown seemed like a guy with potential. He has a couple of nice moves and can rebound but like most bigs, he’ll need time to develop.

I’m looking forward to seeing us play faster and more open with more aggressive ball handlers and more shooters.
