Buchanan leaving has felt inevitable since he got moved to the bench in January. Body language change was extremely visible
I didn't see much change in Jun's body language. I thought he remained very encouraging to his teammates and was still flashing his smile. Notwithstanding his benching, only Castro averaged more time on the court per game, and that was less than a minute more than Jun. I hate the portal, but it has been a mixed blessing for the Atlantic Ten and GW. Yes, we are losing players I would rather have stayed, but on the other hand, our signing of underperforming high major players seems to have worked out well for us.
I didn’t see him as a negative presence at all. Glad Caputo did what he thought was best for this years team

Mason’s good. VCU better. They putting the mason pg on roller skates. Plus they’ve made Haynes uncomfortable.
VCU should win comfortably. So sadly the A10’ll be a 1 bid league.
The fact that VCU is a “I don’t know” bubble team for an at large is proof of the extent to which the power schools have a lock on what was an incredible tournament.
Having quality low and mid majors clean out the power schools frauds, in addition to a few true upsets powered the first 4 days. Clearing the way the quality teams to fight it out.
Now we are going get lots of 4th time this-year matchups sold to us as upsets

More talent and a better coach. That's why we're being blown out. Boy do we have some holes to fill next year. Hopefully Castro will be back. A sad way to end a very good season.
Yes and Yes!

John Feinstein was an unbelievable friend to GW along with the rest of local college ball. For years anytime GW was any good he wrote a column about the team.
Then there is the BB&T.
In that vein, just bc GTN left us in 79 there is ZERO reason for not scheduling AU every year! What AU is going to ruin our NET, when we love yo schedule 1st D1 schools?!?!

1. 22ndandF made a specific point to say how doubtful it would be for any A10 school to duplicate what Steph is building.
2. GW claims over 320,000 alumni worldwide. Davidson claims over 25,000. So, I'm not sure that all is lost. This is the age old issue. The problem isn't what other schools are doing. The problem is GW. GW can have 1,000,000 alumni. Show me the ones that are going to contribute. 95% don't even know we have a basketball team. The other 5% might know and a tiny subset of those folks actually care enough to give small amounts. It is always the same people who give and none of us have the firepower to give enough to dramatically alter the course of GW basketball. I've been doing this for 30+ years. It is what it is, pipe dreams aside. That said, CC has done his best to get the proverbial blood out of a rock.
Well put Rising! It blows my mind that out of all the GW grads who stay local there are not 50 every year that don’t get seasons for the first time. (I say ay this realizing for some undergrads the lack of school spirit is attractive.)
The better half of the glass is this year’s team is far better than the last time the A10s were here. I really enjoyed watching the league this year and expect a good time.

Before everyone writes off this performance as Fordham being bad (they are), we were only a 3.5 point favorite tonight.
Impressive beat down.
Exactly FQ! No such thing as a doesn’t matter 81-58 win with the last 9 years.

I agree the ATO and End of Game/Half problems can make a person crazy. Same with lost leads. Is there a league rule that GW has to run a 1-4 at the end of halfs? Drives me nuts. If they don’t have a guard that is comfortable in those situations, than MOVE! Move the ball! Move your feet.
GW Men's Hoops » GW vs VCU Game Thread » 2/12/2025 4:07 pm |
With how GW turns the ball over and is so ill defined on offense I don’t they win wo a lot of help from VCU. And after seeing them close hard against Dayton; doesn’t give me hope.
Job 1 is not getting lit 14-2 at the start.
GW Men's Hoops » Other Games Thread 2024/25 » 2/08/2025 7:19 am |
Um maybe we all should wear fire suits next Wednesday. VCU closed HARD at Dayton to win by the biggest 5 point margin I’ve seen in awhile.

I don’t know enough about coaching to say X was good coaching or Y was bad coaching, but are there coaching chances, risks or trade offs at play here?
GW Men's Hoops » GW @ La Salle » 2/01/2025 4:33 pm |
God! I’ve had seasons since I’m pretty sure ‘91. When GW can matchup physically and I’d say 75% of the games are just like this! Nearly always a rock fight
Very disappointing last 5 minutes
And why was Hutchinson getting so many 2nd half minutes?

Reading the UR message board, you would think Mooney has been a failure for 20 years. Not sure what they expect but sign me up for going to the NCAA every couple of years and sprinkle in the NIT in between.
Also, most of their posters loved Pastsos on the play by play. Different perspectives from different fan bases.
EVERY DAY PKGW...A program with identity and that kind of success! Let's change recent history and beat LaSalle.

Sure a lot of St Louis shots rimmed out, but many were contested. This team can DEFEND and for how many years could the other team eat a sandwich and do whatever the freak they wanted on offense?
Now if they could just stop running the 1-4 at the of halfs (yes I know they scored in this game). And how about running offense at the of the game? You spend days trying to build trust. Play it out.

With all the contact allowed at the rim dunks required.
I know these players and this staff haven’t been here for 40 years, but there must be a reason why GW runs terrible end half and end of game offense?

“HOWEVER, those final 60 seconds was one of the WORST MANAGED periods in GW basketball history. What was that offensive set run when down one with 24 seconds to go?”
No idea? As far back as Hobbs (was Lonergan different?) GW has tried to close out games based on athleticism, instead of using team work or even a 2-man game with little success
