Well, if it's Darren or Garrett or Jacoi, that would be very bad news.
Trey, you always have to worry about going to his Dad's team, of course. But Trey is at the
right level for now, certainly, to develop his game further and obviously, would get good advice from home.
Also hope everyone thinks of the education and social advantages of staying on the same campus from
year to year. This is often overlooked in this crazy game of musical chairs for players.
It was tough at the end of the season, but we've got a good framework to build on with the players we have now--and the ones we should get.

I consider it a shame that most of these players do not value their ability to get a college education at a great university for free.
Less than 3% of all Division I players will get an NBA Contract.

And a look at the transfer portal has mode the situation worse. 150 college basketball athletes have entered the portal, ending their scholarships at their original school. The top 100-150 will be picked up by other schools and will be fine.  The bulk will have to transfer down a level to a school more commensurate with their skill level. But many will not get picked up at all. Those students have lost their "free" college education.

Will they pick a school and attend with regular student financial aid? Or will they end up working minimum wage jobs w=for the rest of your life?

If you are a walk-on at GWU and enter the portal, who is looking for you? Not UConn, nor Kentucky, nor UCLA, nor Purdue. Stay and get your degree and go dominate intramurals.

Just My Opinion

Should there be a retroactive Quad Win-Loss Analysis based on

1) ratings at the end of the regular season; or
2) ratings based on the end of conference tournaments.

OR

3) is this already done??

(please pardon my ignorance)

Why are dudes in speedos throwing shirts in to the crowd? Shouldn't they put those shirts on?

Just completely hopeless at this point. I honestly thought we had a chance earlier in the season to finish in the top 4. What a pipe dream.

Think I'll start checking out Howard games. They're in the neighborhood.

Next game is Saturday at 2 pm vs NC Central who is currently tied for first place in the MEAC.
Howard is currently tied for 3rd place in the MEAC

Howard features Seth Towns - former Ivy League Player of the Year at Harvard - in his 8th year of college and a PhD student in religion.
Also on the team are the 2 oldest Williams brothers from DC/Sidwell Friends and the oldest is also an Ivy Legue grad. The youngest of the 3 will play for Georgetown in the fall (and he is supposed to be the best player of the 3).

Conference games are doubleheaders with the women playing first.
The band is great, and the cheerleaders and dance team have a different style then what you see at GWU.
Bring $15 and buy the fish dinner.
Everyone who is a fan of the game should experience a MEAC or SWAC game at least once.
Tickets are $30 - $15 if you are 60 and older.

The likely scenario is that if you are in your 30's or younger, you don't have much idea as to the enormous impact that Sports Illustrated had on sports journalism, and really on journalism in general.  If you are in your 40's, you may have some idea and if you're in your 50's or are older, you fully get it.  Like you got the magazine in the mail, most every Thursday, and woe be unto the letter carrier for being a day late or God forbid, missing an occasional issue altogether.  The magazine's reputation was crafted upon its exceptional photography but soon, the country's most talented sportswriters lined up to write for the publication.  Frank Deford.  Rick Reilly (the younger, very entertaining version).  Curry Kirkpatrick.  Peter King.  Steve Rushin.  Richard Deitsch (if you like the sports media stuff which I do), Dan Jenkins, Peter Gammons, Dr. Z, Alexander Wolff, Jack McCallum, Rick Telander, the occasional first-person piece by George Plimpton, and the "give yourself 30 minutes to read" essay from arguably the best of all of them, Gary Smith.

The bad news surrounding SI came well before Friday's announcement that the publication is on life support.  Frankly, it has felt this way for years.  Ownership changed hands and as happens way too often in business, maximizing profits became far more important than putting out a superior product.  Proofreaders and editors were let go.  Writers got their resumes together.  Reader habits turned to digital where SI was agonizingly slow to adapt.  The magazine changed it's schedule to every other week,  followed by some indecipherable schedule where you might get the magazine once or twice per month contingent upon the month, and then finally, to a monthly schedule.

As a weekly publication, SI was never about providing a summary of the game; that's what newspapers were for.  But SI could walk you through what led up to a big game to the reactions given after the game was played.  That wa

In the NIL conversation last night it was mentioned that they raised "in the mid six figures" in their first year.  It's no ACC budget, but it's not like we're helpless.  GW has a pretty wealthy alumni base and people are more comfortable spending their own money versus giving to their university to spend.

Except that NIL donations aren't tax deductible, but donations to the basketball team via the University are.

GW still carries the legacy of having needed an order from the local government to desegregate.

Is that true? I never knew that. Explains a lot.

The Desegregation of George Washington University and the District of Columbia in Transition, 1946-1954 (gwu.edu)

To this day, this history defines the view of a lot of older African-American District of Columbia Residents' view of GWU.  I don't know what the stats are but i wonder what % of DC A-As are enrolled at GWU relative to all A-A students and non A-A residents of DC.

It’s bad, but I think if OOC scheduling is part of it, it’s not a big part. I don’t think random DC people will go if there were slightly better teams. I’d like to improve it of course but I don’t think that solves it

what was GWU attendance like when GWU was nationally ranked and going to the NCAA Tournament??

I COULD BE WRONG - but the last sellout game was when GWU upset then Nationally ranked Virginia during Longeran years? How about the upset of Maryland?

I KNOW THIS IS PURE FANTASY - what if the schedule included the lakes of Kansas, UCLA, Villanova, Kansas, and other Top 25 teams.

I understand the ref-bashing, and the loss was disappointing, but I left the Charles E. tonight with nothing but satisfaction (even if it was muted without the victory).  It was a great game, one of the most entertaining I've seen at GW, and I was impressed with how player after player on both teams rose to the occasion when needed.

Also, I do believe that this game being pre-semester start hurt us.  With no students there and Fordham bringing a really large contingent of fans (most sitting on every side of my seats), this felt like a road game at times.

I remain optimistic, sitting in my corner happily wearing my buff-colored glasses,

I second that emotion

am I wrong or was this the best game since the victory over Virginia 5 or 6(?) years ago

UMass football is a punching bag and they don't even have a conference now. It would be a bloodbath if they joined any semi-respectable conference

I think the powers-that-be could care less about being a punching bag (or even if being a punching bag is a good thing for the health and safety of their students), they care about the Benjamins. Without a conference, umASS football is a money pit, and there is only so much red on the balance sheet a school will put up with. If umASS football goes winless but brings in the ching-ching, no one at umASS will care about the W´s and L´s.
"College sports" is a business now-- and always has been for places like Ohio St and U$C and ´Bama. Better get used to it.

90% agree
but with conference money they could reinvest in better facilities, coaching staff, and players
