Southern Indiana looks a lot like Bradley, but this game is in Evansville, where USI is 12-3 for the season. The Screaming Eagles are led by Ali Saunders, who like Nelson of Bradley, averages 18 ppg and has connected on 40% of almost 200 attempts from beyond the arc; and is coming off a 30-point performance in her last game. Also in that game, the Gannon sisters, Chloe (6’2”) and Channah (6’4”), combined for 33 points to provide a strong inside game.
GW must dictate the pace of the game. On the defensive side, the Revs must make USI work for their shots, while being mindful of the Gannons inside the paint. They must limit the Eagles’ post players without fouling and hold Saunders to an average performance. On the offensive side, they must minimize costly turnovers and make a higher percentage of their shots. The overall shot selection has been good in the past few outings, but good shots by Reynolds and Lewis have not fallen enough, and wild attempts on several fast breaks have stymied potential rallies. Once again, Sims overall play will be critical to GW's success. In addition to Theodorsson, Phiri also sat on the sidelines not in uniform, so the availability of the bench players will be a factor. That said, Wilson and Dulin have continued to be positives coming off the bench. With a solid performance, the Revs may be able to extend their season to yet another game.
To the victor, a game against the winner of the Florida Gulf Coast and A10 rival Chicago Loyola contest would follow.
