2021 Offseason Transfers

Luma is transferring. Will probably be the first of many. Wishing her the best. She got off to a promising start this year, but COVID seemed to hurt her play down the stretch.

That or her coaching.  I liked Luma and thought she did well except for her shooting this year.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

Brigham and Perea have also entered the portal. They both looked like good pieces for us long term, but I think at this point most players from this team will likely not be returning next season.

What? Brigham is going? She is a legacy and could be the cornerstone of the team sooner than later. This is one that will bite GW on the ass.

I'd bet both (and probably more?!) follow Rizzotti should she land a job this offseason (I believe she absolutely will)

Used to be known as Patty Hearst Syndrome.

These athletes have not  played for a good coach in College. The school needs to step on it. AD?

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

She could be entering the portal to be able to speak with other schools while waiting to see who is hired and then make a decision. Seems reasonable to keep your options open and talk to the new coach once she/he is hired.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

I see that Lexus Levy has entered the transfer portal as a grad student Xfer. She didn't play this year, but I guess she got her degree and can now get another year to play. I hope she lands in a good place where she can get some PT. Wish her the best.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

Ali Brigham looks like she's going to Penn State. I was hoping she'd decide to stay after HC was named, but that was really wishful thinking.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

That's too bad, I was hoping your wishful thinking was fruitful.

I think that we will be down for a while. Not filled with hope.

Where is it that we’ve been the last 3 years?

LOL... talk about having been there before as well.  I am saying that I don't see an upgrade here. That is me, I am more than happy to be wrong. I would expect that this is a swing and miss by the school.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

Same here, russianthistle

Seems like GW Admins put a little too much stock in the Joe connection. I get it, he's GW royalty but that was 13 years ago now.

Big opportunity to make a splash and this hire just seems......blah
hope i'm wrong as well

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

This was not my first choice (or on my radar screen for that matter) but I have received nothing but positive feedback from outside the Department about McCombs from those familiar with her coaching and recruiting. This is hardly a Joe connection selection though his endorsement certainly doesn't hurt. Why wouldn't you inquire about a prospective coach from someone they had previously worked for, especially from one whose tenure at GW was so well respected? We went the splash route. Not sure that worked out so well. But I get it. This is GW so negative reservations are de rigueur.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

Gabby Nikitainite has entered the Transfer Portal.
New coach must not have made a great impression on her. Hope she finds a nice landing spot.

Re: 2021 Offseason Transfers

First commitment in the McCombs era (that I know of). A local prospect from DC!
Webster averaged 7.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1 spg, starting all 21 games her freshman year with the Seahawks.
She was their third leading scorer shooting 33% from the field, 21% from distance and 62% from the line.
Her dad is Darryl Webster, who played at GW in the 80s.
Welcome Taylor!

Raoul @Raoul_000 1h
UNC Wilmington WBB transfer Taylor Webster (5-10 FR guard, Washington, DC) has committed to George Washington (A-10), per @MDLadyTerpsAAU
