Wasn't Lykes a longshot recruit for us at one time, too?

He was. Gonzaga grad.

Haven't really seen this mentioned (and totally spitballing here), but I wonder if Caputo would be able to bring any current Canes over with him. The one that jumps out to me is Deng Gak - former 4 star recruit who hasn't been able to get on the court much but would probably give us a boost on the interior if he can stay healthy. Not sure if anyone here's seen him play, but it does appear that he has an extra year.

A thread for inbound GW targets and discussion....
Perhaps some Miami players to kick off the Caputo Era??

Well according to Deadspin, LSU's entire team has entered the portal. Could Bishop help Coach Caputo out with some recruiting of his old teammates?

If we wanted players from LSU, couldn't James Bishop be of some help?

B&BB,
Quick look at the players leaving LSU, these guys were also recruited by Miami:
Justice Williams from Philly, transferring
Alex Fudge from FL, transferring
Brandon Murray from Baltimore was not recruited by Miami, but GW, is also transferring. I'd say he'd be a nice get for anyone (10ppg)

A little info on them:
Alex Fudge
Brandon Murray
Justice Williams

Those would be some great gets. Murray and Fudge were very impressive and I’m sure can pick from literally every school. Justice Williams didn’t get a lot of run, so it’s hard to know what coaches would think of him.

I watched Williams in high school at Roman Catholic in Philly. He can play and I'd probably expect him to go to another power 5 school but he would be a terrific addition for GW.

How many spots are currently available for 2022/23 and 23/24?

Elon coach Mike Schrage just resigned to go to Duke as an assistant: Elon commit Devin Carney just started following Caputo.. Not sure the interest is mutual but worth noting.
Commitment article.

I have watched a ton of canes basketball and I can promise you we are better off without Deng Gak. If anyone has complained about our bigs being nonexistent offensively before, they will have the same complaints about Gak

Baltimore native Noah Locke transferring from Louisville. Was a GW target at some point

Michigan big man Brandon Johns enters the portal. No idea if he’ll stay BCS, but he’d be a perfect fit for a team at our level.

Looks like he was D2 POY

We're not beating out big teams, high mid-majors or any A-10 teams so far on this. But Sekou Sylla was named national D2 player of the year by sports information directors. Played in the famous Rucker League in New York and broke a rim. Also National Honor Society in high school, according to Sekou's bio.
He has shown he can score and rebound for a good team at some level in college. If that can translate to the A-10, would be really welcome.

Sylla put up 26 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals (although he fouled out in 29 minutes) in Nova Southeastern's exhibition game against Miami (FL), which certainly must have caught Caputo's attention. Interesting that he only took 1 three the entire year despite being more of a guard/wing. He made 58% of his shots inside the arc which is certainly impressive, but will he be able to get downhill as much in the A10? If he can hang defensively (which is more important) then I'm all for it. We definitely need to add a couple players on the wing - preferably around 6'6" or 6'7".
