It’s early, but there has been some action in the WBB portal among the A10 teams. Significantly, a couple of the A10’s best eligible players have entered the portal.
George Mason’s Zahirah Walton (18.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and URI’s Palmire Mbu (10.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg) have decided (at this moment) to transfer.
Assuming they don’t transfer to other A10 schools, these two players who have tormented GW in recent games, will not be missed by the Revs.

Looks like the women's team and (Loyola of course) are the only A10 teams (either men or women) still standing. I have been known to be wrong. I'm amazed and pleased. Go GW.

Zahirah Walton has withdrawn from the portal. Look like she'll be returning to George Mason, after all. ![]()

Any new recruits besides Cucuta?
Offline
With URI's coach leaving for Florida (the Rams hired Albany's coach), I wouldn't be surprised to see more entries. I thought Blair-Lewis was also leaving given the number of Mason portalers, but it looks like she's staying for now.

WBB has three recruits coming in - Cucuta, Gunter, and Habbal. You can find the HS recruiting thread here.

OK, so Zahirah Walton is apparently now back in the portal. ![]()
Other defections of note--
Aryss Macktoon of La Salle, who averaged 15 ppg, and was the A10's Defensive POY, also another player who torched GW twice this year.
Mackenzie Blackford of Duquesne, a starting guard who averaged 10.6 ppg.
Mary-Anna Asare of VCU, who was an All A10 preseason selection, but sat out almost the whole year with a knee injury.

Loyola's coach resigned, so there should be some turnover on the Rambler roster.
Mia is expected to enter the transfer portal according to the below tweet. Wish her luck at her next stop. I think she could become a good player down the line. Showed some real promise as a freshman. I'm sure Coach G will want to give incoming freshman Ayla Habbal minutes and may add via the portal as well so James was unlikely to start next year.

Mia James is set to enter the transfer portal out of George Washington. The 5’4” freshman guard averaged 4.1 PPG, 2.7 RPG & 1.9 APG in 36 games this season.
Offline
Appears that freshman Colleen Phiri who Coach G recruited at Colgate and brought with her to GW is going to enter the portal as well. Get your scorecards ready if you want to identify the players.
Offline
Not totally surprised that Phiri may leave, given her decrease in PT late in the season. Maybe injury had something to do with it, but she could never quite get back to her early-season level of play. James is more of a surprise, especially since she started every game in the latter part of the season. Whatever their reasons, if they go, I wish them the best.
Ashleigh Connor, La Salle’s leading scorer has followed Arlyss Macktoon (both All A10-2nd Team) into the portal.
Next year’s A10 landscape will be interesting. There will be at least 4 new coaches in the A10 (Fordham, Loyola Chicago, URI, and VCU). Also, 5 of the 6 top programs will be losing a lot of talent. URI will lose Brooklyn Gray (All A10-1st Team) to graduation, and Palmire Mbu (All A10-3rd Team) to the portal. Richmond loses Maggie Doogan (A10 POY) and Rachel Ullstrom (All A10-1st Team) to graduation. George Mason loses Walton (All A10-1st Team) and starting forward Louis Volker to the portal. Davidson loses GW nemesis Charlise Dunn (All A10-1st Team) to graduation, while La Salle’s top two scorers are in the portal. So far, only Saint Joseph’s roster is basically unchanged.
With all of this movement, there’s a lot activity in the portal yet to come. Stay tuned.

Payton Dulin and Silvia Gonzalez have entered the transfer portal as well. That means no one from this year's freshman class remains.

More A10 movement, as the season has officially ended. Other key potential transfers:
Joining Walton and Volker in the portal for George Mason is Kennedy Harris (14.1 ppg)-- an All A10 1st Team Selection. This is most likely due to Coach’s possible move up the NCAA ladder. Perhaps players will return if Blair-Lewis decides to stay at GMU.
With Coach Guth resigning at Chicago Loyola, the floodgates have opened. Included in the portal list for the Ramblers are their two best returning players, Alex-Anne Bessette (11.3 ppg) and Alexa Kinas (9.9 ppg).
At URI, Vanessa Harris (10.2 ppg) – an All A10 Rookie selection, joins Mbu in the portal.
Otherwise there has been the usual portal traffic in the conference. By way of comparison against GW’s 4 entries are Davidson – 4; Dayton – 1; Duquesne – 4; Fordham – 1; George Mason – 7; La Salle – 4; Loyola Chicago – 5; Rhode Island – 2; Richmond -2; St. Bonaventure – 0; St. Louis – 2; St. Joseph’s – 1; and VCU – 1.
Of course these numbers could change at any second.

Where did you see that Dulin entered the portal? I can't find anything about it

A few minor changes occurring later in the day.
One significant entry of note: Albina Syla (9.2 PPG) of URI in the portal. She’s A 6’5” Sophomore with a high ceiling.
Otherwise, some minor changes around the conference: Davidson – 4; Dayton – 1; Duquesne – 5; Fordham – 2; George Mason – 8; La Salle – 4; Loyola Chicago – 5; Rhode Island – 4; Richmond -2; St. Bonaventure – 0; St. Louis – 2; St. Joseph’s – 1; and VCU – 1.

Much appreciated. I made a document to track the happenings of the offseason, including incoming and outgoing players and coaches:
As I was making this I noticed that assistant Sherill Baker is no longer listed on the website. I'm assuming this means she's taking another job but if anyone has any insight, let me know. If there's anything else I can do to improve the document (whether it's information, stylistic, or otherwise) I am all ears!

No major defections, but an update on numbers:
Davidson – 4; Dayton – 1; Duquesne – 5; Fordham – 1; George Mason – 8; La Salle – 6; Loyola Chicago – 6; Rhode Island – 6; Richmond -3; St. Bonaventure – 0; St. Louis – 2; St. Joseph’s – 1; and VCU – 1.
No changes for GW. What's going on at LaSalle?

Gabby, Sara, Kamari, and Tanah all announced that they are coming back yesterday. Great news!
Offline
Jaeda posted her “I’m back” message this morning. Unlike the men, women have their core players back.

So essentially, GW's 5 best players from this past season are returning.
Hopefully, the Revs can get some much needed inside help from the portal.
Also, unless any of the current players in the portal withdraw or transfer back to the A10, only 7 of 18 of this year's All-A10 selections are returning next year, ZERO from the 1st Team. There maybe more parity in next year's edition of the A10.
Offline
George Mason’s Zahirah Walton is headed to West Virginia and the Big 12 next season.
So far, the A10 has not received a commitment, but it’s still early in the process, and only about 44 of 1400 portal entrants have committed so far.
