As always, Piranha with an exceptional preview. He is good enough to make it the board a paid site. Wish I was as confident as he is about tonight's game. AU's continuity in the lineup and home court advantage will be tough to overcome.

How about instead of thinking we should have upset Kansas State. we win at American on Wednesday night.  Last two times (12/10/22 and 11/12/19) we played AU it was at the Smith Center and we lost both times.
When we start winning easily at American and at Old Dominion (Saturday) we can go back to complaining about the weak schedule.

Hope I missed it what I didn't hear. Correct if I am wrong. But it was frustrating watching the telecast last night and having  Patsos and Wallace  not give any information on Jacoi's injury. Were the announcers clueless or not smart enough to ask for viewers about Jacoi's injury? Gee, I think GW fans would want to know about the injury to Jacoi. How did it happen? What was the injury? When might he play again? Lots of questions.  Wallace didn't even ask Caputo about the injury in the post-game interview. (Ok, I might have missed a mention during the constant blather from Patsos on Loyola basketball and a 1,000 other subjects that he tries to string together that few people care about. (Does he get paid for each name he mentions?)
Thankfully, CC, when asked, explained Jacoi's injury in his post-game press conference.
And one question for the board. Wallace and Patsos said Dayan wasn't eligible until last night, but I never heard them explain why he wasn't eligible. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Why explain anything when you can blather on  forvever? I thought Dayan was inujured.
So was he injured or ineligible?

The failure to make 3pt shots has be deeply concerning at this point. Yes, it is early, but 24 per cent against three weak teams, which puts us 350th in the NCAA does not bode well for the season. It's not like we have been playing great defensive teams that have stopped us from making  3s. As has been said on the board already, if we can't make 3pt shots opponents will be able to collapse on us making it more difficult to score under the basket. If we can't make 3s against our weak non-conference opponents, it will be a long, long A-10 season.

"I love the energy of the staff. Coach Pikiell breathes basketball, and he cares about his players.  Nwuli is one of the more explosive athletes in the senior class. He has quick-twitch ability to get off the ground with great burst and elevation, and his second jump is effective because it enables him to get easy points on putbacks or block shots at the other end. He's a lob threat, especially in transition, and he's versatile defensively with his lateral quickness and ability to cover ground.

Arguing about how weak our schedule is seems silly when the last few years we can't beat or have trouble beating the weak teams on our schedule. So here's an idea: Before we complain about the quality of opponents, how about we improve our quality. Two losses straight losses to AU means we aren't even the second best team in DC. And look at the teams we have lost to in recent years -- for example --Radford, Missouri State, UMass Lowell. Ane when we win at home, we can't even win by double  digits   -- for example last year: Navy, Alcorn St. UMES and Bill & Mary. And then there is this: We finished last in the A-10 last season.

On the other side, you may have the worst American con artist in history.  A morally bankrupt human being.  Don't wish to get personal Rising but 8 years later, anyone who proudly supports this criminal or even prefers that he possess the power to run this country should have their own moral compass evaluated.  I realize your point was that Biden is not a good alternative but if you revisit my original comment, it wasn't that Biden is a great candidate but that he is so superior to Trump.  I'll stand by that thought all day long.

Thank you, GWmayhem. Smart and thoughtful post. Makes too much sense. GWRising should stick with basketball.

While Max, according some sources, was a problem for coaches, let's not forget he was our leadiing rebounder last season and second-leading rebounder the year before, had a better field goal percentage than James the last two years and had a better 3pt FG percenage his fresman year than James.  Replacing his rebounding  and scoring will not be easy. However, I am trusting CC that next season's team will be better than the last season's team. Of course, I thought year 2 for CC would be better than his first season. Now, if things go further downhill next season? Well, let's not think about that now because I don't see how GW would replace another coach after 3 years. Unlike Max who didn't improve in his second season, let's hope we see some Brendan Adams-like improvement from Hutchinson, Awtrey, Buchanan and Johnson.

Great suggestions, but got to have Dirkk Surles somewhere on the team. It didn't much better than a Surles' steal and a Surles' dunk at the other end of the floor.

Nice ideas, but I think we are living in a dream world. It's too late to go back in college basketball and football. Let's be honest. Men's college basketball and football sports are essentially pro sports. Money, money, money. When was the last player declared academically ineligible? Colleges can no longer tell players to get an education and then use that degree to get a good job to help your family financially. Players now ask when they are beinig recruited how much will they get paid . Why wait. many of their families could use the money now and not have to wait to use a college degree to get a job that pays them 6 figures a year. College athletes, who aren't ready for the NBA, are staying in school because they can earn more money in school than playing anywhere else. And why should coaches get paid millions while players are not allowed play for a year if they go to a new team? Colleges are hiring players to represent their schools. The first question of may recruits and their familes: What's the pay? The players aren't students first. It's a joke when the NCAA talks about student-athletes. I think we need start coming up with ideas about how big money college sports will deal with collective bargaining, unions, salaried players and salary caps etc.
Thanks for reading.
