The money goes to the athletes from the universities who have to pay the amount that is called for in the court settlement. It can be distributed to any sport but football and basketball will get the most

Hoops HQ features Buchanan as a mid major who could go to a high major like Rutgers or Miss State but also says Towson is a possibility if he wants to stay local. They refer to his play this season as "solid." Really?

I think GW Rising's analysis of the current and future of college hoops is correct. I really am sorry June and Jacoi are leaving us because they are both good guys that have great potential on and off the court. However, as fans we have to look to the future potential for bringing in another point guard, a couple of quality three point shooters and a big guy to back up Castro, Our coach says he has the $$ to get the players we need. Let's see what happens.
GW Men's Hoops » Welcome Darren Buchanan! » 3/16/2025 10:27 pm |
I would not assume Darren is leaving and i hope he stays with GW. He is a very good guy who is dealing with some difficult issues. I fully expect Castro will stay and become a first team all A-10

We clearly deserved the NIT more than Bonaventure did; you can add them to the list others have mentioned that were selected.

I agree with the concerns about being a one bid conference but it is also clear our league improved significantly compared to last year. I disagree strongly with H.R. 71's negative comments about the VCU-Mason game. to me it was well played with two talented and passionate teams that both deserved to be selected. Mason was 24-4 after a 1-2 start and VCU is plenty talented and well coached. I watched them both in person in our tournament and had to admit they much more experienced and at a higher level than GW.

To Free Quebec: What I am hearing is that GW Men's Hoops will have more $$ than most people think and that Coach Caputo feels like he has the $$ to get the players we need. And your reference to Dayton not having football is not accurate. I grew up in Dayton and they have a strong football program in a second level conference.

Very simply and clearly-- Buchanan was 5 for 5 from the field; why couldn't he get more shots. He was hardly in the offense late in regulation and in the OTs. Meanwhile his teammate goes 0-10 three pointers.

Gw plans to so the same thing as VCU: payments of a similar amount for men's basketball directly from the university w/o NIL/Collective

I am not worried about Coach Caputo returning to Miami. His sights are on GW's future.

I don't really want to engage in this dialogue of the distant past about Mike. He was an excellent coach; however, based on what I heard from reliable sources, I believe the allegations about how badly he communicated with and treated his players were accurate and deserving of termination. He and our AD caused the men's basketball program to sink to 7 straight losing seasons.

Well, we have two important goals to meet to demonstrate progress:
(1) Win an OOC road game v ODU tomorrow to break our 21 game losing streak out of conference
(2) Have a winning record for the first time since 2017
Those are minimum standards to judge success for this program.

The Washington Post has hardly covered the Revs at all this year. In today's paper they have 2 sentences about our win over Louisiana and said the game was played at the SMITH CENTER. Just shows us how much interest they have in GW

i agree with GW Rising that Christian will get more minutes; maybe a lot more minutes. They are very high on him.

Yesterday's scrimmage and lunch gave me a very positive outlook on our team's future. Castro and Hansen as our centers will give us a much better offense and there is a great deal more basketball experience than last year when GW had nine new players. I was especially impressed with the comments from our new Athletic Director; Michael really knows how to communicate with fans and donors and is clearly a very strong advocate for GDub hoops.

Yes, the Revs are one team from the bottom in the brand new 2024-25 College Basketball. I predict we will finish in the top 8 in conference play.
GW Men's Hoops » 2024 schedule » 9/03/2024 10:26 pm |
Regarding what appeals to fans: Based on my experience supporting GW, I believe an improving Rev team will draw more fans for OOC games against challenging opponents. We don't help fill our arena playing a bunch of weak teams.
