This is just another embarrassment under the Nero/Vogel leadership of the athletic department over the past decade.  I don't understand how Vogel still has a job here outside of being an alum.  I can't think of one thing she has done that inspires confidence that this is the right person for the job.  Outside of the Swimming program, are any of our teams successful?  Have we had one PR win in the past 5 years?

Man, if Tafara goes someplace else, what would that be?  5 schools we attended or committed to?  That dude got a lot of bad advice over the years.

I wanted to re-up this thread due to the recent losing streaks by both the men and women's teams.  This isn't meant as an "I told you so", but more to gauge the temperature in the room the way the season has progressed for both teams.  Are we still as convinced that these extensions were the right move, or do you think knowing what we know now that we should have taken a more conservative approach?

They also missed a travel on the rebound on that play.  Richmond pulled away from a potential jump ball and run like 4 steps before dribbling.  Oh well, at least we made it a game.

Dayton and VCU are bad examples, because if you are sports fan, what else are you going to watch in Dayton or Richmond.  Its not like they have to compete against the Wizards, Capitols, or the myriad of other cultural opportunities that exist here but not in those smaller cities.  Also, there is the winning factor.  Winning cures all, and those programs have been winning for decades.  I think I saw that VCU hasn't had a losing season in 20 years.  Fans know that they are going to see a decent product when they go to those games.  There hasn't been a guarantee of that here since ML was fired, and that was even debatable.  You really have to go back to Hobbs, but probably Jarvis.  I think with consistent winning, you will see a return of fans and not amount of marketing will probably change that.

Eye of the tiger is the theme of Rocky 3, not Rocky 4.  The announcers doing little things to annoy me.

Also, nice 3s by Edwards.

Not to be a contrarian here, but I don't love this.  While I like everything we have seen from CC so far, I'd still like him to prove it a little more before we go all with him.  MoJo looked ok his first season, and then the wheels started to fall off the next year.  JC looked like he showed a lot of promise after his first year, and was highly regarded across the coaching industry.  In the end, that all was fool's gold and he was proven to be not capable of handling an A-10 level program.  I'd like to see a little more from CC to show he is the real deal rather than giving him more time and money upfront and him showing that he isn't the right guy for the job, and we start over again, but have to spend more money to do it.

It's gotta be Pops.  Nobody personified those Hobbs teams more than him and for 4 years he was the unofficial mayor of Foggy Bottom.  Carl may have been more of a winner, but when I think of those teams, I think of Pops dunking on everyone.

I would bet all my money that its Revolutionaries.  Its always been Revolutionaries.  This whole marketing thing is a farce to try to drum up interest in something most people don't care about before they name the choice they landed on in the very beginning.  Its embarrassing.  Every part of it.

They should have just gone with Buff and Blue.  But this is what happens when your can't keep a University President, and the rest of the administration and athletics department are incompetent.  You throw away all tradition to come up with something that doesn't fit the university to solve a problem that didn't really exist.

I'm an upstate NY Native and a lifelong Syracuse fan.  I'll always love Boeheim for what he did for the area.  Was he a jerk at times, especially to reports (even student ones), absolutely.  However, Alum '04 comments are way out of line.  Particularly, "Killed someone and had it covered up."  That is complete and total BS,  The situation with the car accident was an absolute tragedy, and to throw it around casually like this is crass.  It's disrespectful to Boeheim, the city of Syracuse and to the victim himself.  I expected better from people on this site.

Autry was the coach in waiting for Syracuse for years now.  This isn’t much of a surprise.  I doubt this changes anything.  If he really wanted to play for his dad, he never would have signed with us in general.

I watched the game as well.  The last minute was crazy.  Felt so good for Battle making that shot.  I really seemed like the refs were searching for some way to take the win away from Minn.  I'm interested in seeing what this loss does to Rutgers NCAA hopes.

I agree whole heartedly with everyone here about the names being terrible.  I’ve been complaining since day one that if you can’t use Colonials because of potential misinterpretation, there is no way that you can use Revolutionaries.  The rest of the names are awful, with the exception of Sentinels, but I’m not really sure how that fits the university.

I feel like the school is missing the really obvious choice.  Just be the “Buff and Blue” and be done with it.  It’s already associated with the University, is tied to George Washington and his army and is even in the fight song.  The name gives continuity and is tied to tradition.  Should make more people happy than picking something that some marketing firm selected.

1996 Kentucky is probably at the top of the list by almost any criteria.  They only have two losses on the season, won every game in the NCAA tournament pretty handily and had 9 players play in the NBA, including multiple first round picks.

Well, with KD and Kyrie traded, not looking good for Yuta to be an NBA champ.  Its so funny, the Nets were a playoff team and have a better record than the two teams that they traded KD and Kyrie to.  The NBA is so broken.

By the logic used to get rid of Colonial, I don't know how you can you use Revolution or Revolutionaries.  Pretty sure more people have died or were oppressed in violent revolutions (Russia, China, Cuba, Iran) than were during the Colonial period in the United States.  But, since it didn't happen here, I guess it doesn't count.  That all seems pretty xenophobic to me.

I didn't realize there is a large number of 8 years olds that attend GW.  I mean, only an 8 year old or a complete moron would find a Hippo "adventurous or exciting".  You aren't telling me the student body is full of morons, are you?

I don’t know how much you can take away from the recounting of a casual discussion, but if all of this is true, this dude is really the wrong man for the job if you care at all about athletics at GW.  Vanderbilt going D3 is a truly idiotic hot take.  Sure, they are a bad fit for the SEC since they are a private school.  However, the Big East conference is comprised of a lot of similarly situated urban private schools with good academics that are thriving.  Nobody is saying that Villanova should drop down a level.  In fact, The NIL could help a school like Vanderbilt.  They are the only SEC school located in a prosperous major metropolitan area.  If they were smart, they should be going for some of that Nashville money, like the U does in Miami (another public school).  I’d want someone at GW who sees the new chaos that the NIL created and found ways to exploit it instead of complaining about how it makes things hard.
