The missing piece in all of this is the impending use of Endowments to pay players.  It's the absolute only way non-P5, non-TV revenue generating schools, can compete.

I didn't see the game, nor did I want to.  The body language of the team that last game was awful. In years past this wouldn't have been as a big of a concern, but with the Transfer Portal, losing the locker room and kids with an easy exit is an absolute existential threat to any progress we made, any good will that was created within the team, early in the season.  Not to mention a Tik Tok generation with memories and attention spans that of goldfish. All that to say, I hope and pray we keep Buchanan and Autry.

It was absurdly loud. And I’m under 45.  In general, would have much preferred the band.

Can you, like, not change the name of the game thread? It's confusing and makes it seem like there is a new thread versus the original.  Thanks.

I am impressed by Jacoi's strength. He ripped the ball away multiple times from NH players.  They were also bouncing off him, he doesn't appear like a Chris Monroe but man is he strong. Will also add love his heads up dribbling. When drives then backs out, he's still looking UP, it's a subtle but very difficult skill.

Having the same audio issues. Annoying. ESPN+ is usually reliable.

Johnson has a Garino feel to his game.  Kind of the way he runs and moves, fairly static upper body, even the shot release is similar.  TBD on the defensive end.  I also remember Garino turning the ball over a million times as a freshman, so grateful Johnson doesn't need to bring the ball up and we don't need to find out.

As soon as any Power 5 team is at play in any of our transfer recruiting, we're toast. EVERY single one of them is offering NIL money. Glad Zack is in Europe, I think that's our best chance at developing a pipeline and fill some of these transfer gaps.

1 of 21 from three!! I’ve never seen something like that. Was it St Louis we held to under 30 for the game? Anyone have that box score?

Shooting, what, 4 of 20 from 3? That's abysmal. Make three more (still under 33%) and it's a 7 point victory.

First in person game in quite a long time, and while an enjoyable experience, being from Boston, never thought we'd lose to the "Mill" team.

Few thoughts and observations. We lack focus and discipline. I would call it professionalism. And that comes from floor and coaching leadership. Someone here said we lack a floor general - could not agree more. Carl Elliot wouldn't be yucking it up at half time, throwing down dunks and random shots. On a side note, I do wonder if the lack of focus is a generational thing and/or transfer thing? No one has roots therefore no one is a leader. Lindo is trying, but being limited to getting the ball on the block and backing his man down is a poor way to get our best player the ball.

I can only surmise that Jamion is a "players" coach, their friend. Which is great for recruiting, but terrible for execution. In some ways the opposite of Lonergan.

Things I did like:
Freeman. Great body control and energy. Dribbles with his head up.
Bamisile's athleticism. Guy can jump out of the gym. No freaking discipline, just wild. Coaching would do him well.

Love Joe Mac and Elliot comparisons.  Jameer seems to be a combo of those two guards, rebounds like Joe Mac, scoring like Elliott - hops are unique to him.  Size-wise it would be best for Jameer to play point and allow us a bigger shooting guard.

Question: Do you think we'll see Herve come back? I hope he does.  Hopefully time heals all wounds.

I like our chances with a Duke Transfer if only for the academics. Basketball, not so much. But academia - we we’re a nice transition (ala Mitola)

All players, heck all of us, have strengths and weaknesses. It’s the sneaky strengths I like most, thought it would be fun to highlight a few

Maceo’s D: he appears MUCH quicker this year both in foot speed and thought.

Battle’s Temperament: Mature way beyond his years. After missing the game winner in regulation he hit the from the same spot in whatever overtime that was. Stones.

Chase Paar: Sets high, effective screens. This requires 1) in bounding the ball after a make. 2) Running all the way to the baseline 3) Sprinting back to the top of the key 4) Rolling back to the bucket. All game.

Jameer takes a lot of stick here, and understandably some times - but the box score shows ZERO turnovers and 6-6 FTs. Those are stellar

Harris is an immediate start. Toro keeps his position with Stallings off the bench. I like Jack and his leadership, decent size as well. Not sure if Battle is quite there defensively.

1. Armel
2. Nelson
3. Jack
4. Harris
5. Toro

Subs:
Battle
Stallings
Juice
Paar - loved his post moves!!

Just haven’t seen Langarica earn minutes - looks lost on both ends especially defensively - ala Kevin Marfo.

I’m not sure what happened with Mezzie. The last I saw him he was guarding the other team’s 2 guard (maybe the American game?)  and getting smoked. Was a weird position for him, and then he’s just stopped playing.  Thought he could play the 3 or 4 but Harris has stepped into that big time.

Yeah, food was pretty bad. Tater tots were cold and chicken was poorly fried. Hard to mess those up. 14 bucks too. Won’t be eating there again. Beers are ridiculous as well.
