Hard to tell anything based upon the opponent we played.  But I left feeling good if only because I was impressed with Maximus Edwards. Caputo's first building block recruit has an all around game that should succeed in the A10. I don't want to overdue it, but my first impression of him was better than every recruit that JC brought in over his tenure.  If Caputo can continue to recruit players of this level I feel confident we will be back in the top half the A10 in short time.
I left the game thinking that Daniel Nixon has the tools to be a contributor at some point. Perhaps even a better than average A10 player. His shot selection was fine, he just needs to become a better shooter.
Not expecting much from Keegan Harvey. Kind of reminded me of Sloane Seymour, but taller and thinner.
E.J. Clark should be a serviceable back-up guard who will get some minutes since we lack depth at that position.
Weird to see Jimmy Patsos at the Smith Center doing color commentary. I thought he was ML's buddy. Strange world we live in.

Wow, and the hits keep coming. Figured he would be some help next year.  So JC currently only has C of C transfer Keegan Harvey and freshman Jabari West Jr. to help things get turned around next year. No obvious game plans, ugly to watch basketball, often poor effort from the players, non-competitive games, and no real hope of new players to change any of that. What a cluster fuck of crap. People on this Board say GW doesn't have the resources to replace him. I say how can GW not afford to replace him.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs Dayton Game Thread » 1/08/2022 2:00 pm

The basketball is as bad as anything I have seen since the Kuester era and to John's credit his team at least always played hard. I understand that the expectation is that JC is getting a least another year, but he has not earned it.  Regardless of the limitations currently on the program GW should be moving on.  Don't believe some of the JC propagandists on this board, there is no short term hope for the program. It is not going to get better.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs Coppin St. Game Thread » 12/08/2021 10:01 pm

Freeman is a natural point guard. Bishop is not, better suited as a off guard.  Doubt JC will acknowledge that, but it would show real growth if he did. He needs to have Freeman out there as much as possible and needs to recruit another PG to backup next year.  They aren't ever going to win against credible teams if Bishop continues to run the show on a regular basis.

At this point the loss is just fine. Hopefully each one is moving us closer to a new AD and then a new coach and another fresh start. What we currently have may not be able to compete in the Patriot League, and there is no rational reason to think it will get better. I graduated approximately 30 years ago and have not been so hopeless about the direction of the program since the last year of the Kuester era. Even then at least I knew we would be moving on from him - in the current situation who knows. I may have to watch 2 or 3 more years of this crap until changes are made.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs UMASS-Lowell Game Thread » 11/19/2021 9:31 pm

What do American, Morgan State, Hampton and UMass-Lowell have in common?  You guessed it, they all beat GW at the Smith Center in the past three years.  Our record the last three years, 12-20, 5-12, and 1-4. I'm beginning to think that maybe JC talks a good game, but really can't coach. Worst part is I don't see any changes coming in the next couple of years due to interim leadership at the top of GW. What has happened to my dear university!?!?!

GW Men's Hoops » Is Jamion Christian "Coaching For His Job"? » 11/15/2021 4:42 pm

He is going to get another year regardless of how things end up this time around.  As many have mentioned he is a great ambassador for the school, but clearly needs to have a winning record this season. Going to be tough to recruit with 3 losing seasons in the rear view mirror.  I have found his tenure particularly difficult because I have had trouble following what, if any, game plans he implements. Chucking up 3s and hoping to out score your opponent is not a long term strategy.  Supported getting rid of ML, but man could that guy coach a game. In any case, he is losing Lindo, Adams, and Harris at the end of this season so how much better can we expect it to be next season? So in sum I don't think he is coaching for his job, but to state the obvious his tenure has been less than impressive so far and there is reason to be concerned about the future. Not jumping ship yet; however, I have my life jacket out.

GW Men's Hoops » Good News on the Recruiting Front Soon! » 12/31/2020 12:00 pm

I don't get this discussion. Gaspare reclassified over a month ago. There was a spot for Lincoln regardless of JNJ transferring or not.

GW Men's Hoops » Jameer Nelson Jr » 12/28/2020 9:33 pm

I am not upset by this. The team is 1-6 against low level competition.  What we have is not getting it done, and will not get it done in the future. At this point I am good riding with Bishop for better or worse since he is talented, giving the freshman some solid minutes to see what they got, and hoping Lindo and Harris come back strong next year. Ultimately JC is going to need to recruit at a higher level.  I hope he recognizes this now and has the ability to do it.

GW Men's Hoops » FIRE JAMION » 12/15/2020 10:44 am

The biggest problem is that the guys he is bringing in are not clearly more talented than the lower major players that are beating us. Gapare seems like a talented player, but based upon the little to no outreach from GW sports communications it is unclear if he is even coming to GW. What I wouldn't give to have Kwame's son follow in his footsteps, but that seems like a pipe dream at this point. Guess based on the current roster and lack of open scholarships in the near future I am not seeing much immediate hope which is depressing as a longtime fan.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs William and Mary Game Thread » 12/14/2020 9:59 pm

I don't know if I can watch this anymore. They don't play defense and the offense is so frenetic. The whole thing is so unpleasant to witness. It hasn't been this bad since the Kuester years.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs Delaware Game Thread » 12/11/2020 8:39 pm

This is such unattractive basketball to watch. Run up the court and shoot in 10 seconds regardless of how ill advised the shot is. Is this GW basketball for the next 3 to 5 years?  Yuck, really turning me off.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs Hampton Game Thread » 12/01/2020 10:25 pm

I really am not sure what I witnessed there.  At least with Mojo I could figure out what he was doing and his teams played hard the entire game even when they lost.  What the hell was that!?!?!? JC keeps telling us how talented this team is. Really? ML's crew would have eaten up this squad in every facet of the game. I have been coming to these games for 30 years and never have had as little hope moving forward as of now. The last year plus I have seen a confusing structure, minimal talent, and often a lack of heart. Someone needs to answer for this crap.

GW Men's Hoops » GW vs Hampton Game Thread » 12/01/2020 8:44 pm

This is true crap in every way.  Ranks right up there with the worst I have seen over the past 30 years.

GW Men's Hoops » Langarica and Willams » 1/19/2020 4:06 pm

Anyone know their status?  Neither was on the bench last night, nor has either played recently.  Neither were mentioned on the broadcast last night as being injured like Toro.
